What to Expect

What to Expect

Initial Consultation

This is a 50-Minute sit down and opportunity for us to get to know each other. I will ask a series of lifestyle questions to understand where you are currently at, what your personal goals are and help pin-point how I can empower you to get there. Understanding your psychology and motivation is just as important as understanding your goals with training. From here we will perform a fitness assessment where we test body composition (body fat, circumference measurements) to let you know where you are currently at.

A Mechanics Based Approach

A Mechanics Based Approach…

Training Model

Our training approach is based of a client-defined (RTS) thought process using an advanced knowledge of joints, muscles, and resistance tools. Investigating what you currently HAVE in order to build appropriate exercises to meet your goals is what we do best. The way we provide a truly bespoke training experience to you comes from our understanding of exercise mechanics:

Joint Mechanics

Joint Mechanics

Muscle Mechanics

Muscle Mechanics

Resistance Mechanics

Resistance Mechanics

Our training is based off of the objective realities your individual mechanics will present. The broad term is EXERCISE MECHANICS which is a combination of:

tick-circle

Who?

This is NOT a demographic. It is a collection of your personal history we go over in your consultation.

tick-circle

Goal?

Everything we do is built off of your individual goal NOT mine.

tick-circle

Have?

What do you have available in your joint positions and motions? Some call this “mobility” and others call it “flexibility”,

tick-circle

Own?

We will only load what you can possess control and ownership over.

tick-circle

Tolerate?

We will constantly be adjusting your current exercise program based off tolerance to forces.

Everything must be customized to your individual mechanical needs. We can use the objective filter of applying mechanics to your workouts. I will build exercises around you as opposed to cramming you into an exercise just because the rest of the world says it’s good. Nothing is automatic!
Our training will be custom-fit and client-defined (RTS).

Joint Mechanics

Understanding the basics of how joints function, various anatomical parts, and other considerations that may come with injury or aging is something we focus on heavily in making safe exercise decisions for you.

Muscle Mechanics

Muscle Mechanics

Understanding muscle insertions, joints they cross, mechanisms of muscle contraction, and what effects overall muscle output helps us detect deficits that may be impairing your muscular system function. Often leading to pain, decreased flexibility, and/or injury.

Resistance Mechanics

Resistance Mechanics

Our exercise professionals understand how to use each tool to get the best out of your muscular system and reach your goals. Knowing when its appropriate to use free weights, machines, or just bodyweight is another thing that sets our personal trainers apart from the rest.

Commitment

Clients are expected to make 6 or 12 month commitments to REED ELITE TRAINING to allow enough time to properly assess, correct and progress through training phases to see desired results. A real transformation is not a short process, which unfortunately advertising often lies to us about. If you really want to do this the right way commit and invest some time into yourself.

John is excellent to work with; he is incredibly knowledgeable and personable, and tailors programs to your specific needs. I've worked with several trainers over the past few years in the Bellevue and Redmond area, and John is the best personal trainer I've had. As much as I hate exercising, he's really good at keeping me moving and motivated. 😄

I’ve been training John for over 2 years after needing an exercise specialist for in-home services. I had a stroke 13 years back which compromised my left side. In 2020 I had back surgery on my L4-L5. Needless to say I was looking for a trustworthy professional to build me back stronger. What I’m happiest with working out with John is he meets me where I’m currently at and helps me improve my compromised side not just exercise my stronger side. I’m now able to use my stairs, go to the store with my caregiver, and visit my doctors when needed due to improved strength. I’ve had other personal trainers, therapists, and chiropractors in the past and John’s attention to detail and level of technical knowledge continues to exceed my expectations. I can honestly say John is the best personal trainer I’ve worked with.

John is the best personal trainer in the Bellevue area. He has had to create workouts around my broken hip, various surgeries as well as chronic issues my old body has dealt with. 1 on 1 in his gym is great and we can really focus on my workouts. I get a unique workout every week. Wouldn't train with anyone else.

Terrific. The best personal trainer in Bellevue, in my opinion. Unlike other trainers whose 'personalized' workout is a cookie-cutter sheet of exercises that applies to everyone, John offers a truly bespoke experience, customizing my workout to my needs, goals and limitations.

John has been training me since six months and it’s been fantastic so far. He is thorough, detail oriented and tailors the exercises to your needs. His instructions are something you can remember for life because of the way he explains them with visuals. I would recommend John to anyone who is looking to get started on fitness.

Post jiujitsu training on my 59th birthday. Fitness isn't simply what you do but who you are. John Reed helps bring that out in personal training that drives the physical exercise. He knows that attitude eats reps for breakfast. At my age, it's all about optimal performance to enjoy the good life in the best health. To date, I've achieved excellent gains in strength, speed and stamina with no injury and minimal soreness. John's approach can be summarized as: 1.) THINK BIG 2.) START SMALL 3.) INCREMENT YOUR WAY THERE

I’m a type 1 diabetic who had really poor blood glucose level control. When my wife and I found out that we were expecting, I wanted to take control of my health and be there for my daughter as she grows up. Since I started working out with John, I’ve lost 20 lbs and my blood glucose levels have been amazing. This may be more relevant for diabetics but my last HbA1c was 5.6, the lowest I’ve ever had in my 22 years of being a diabetic :). John is very knowledgeable and explains the technique and reasoning behind each workout thoroughly. His guidance on nutrition and on maintaining a healthy lifestyle has kept me motivated and has had a tremendous effect on my overall health. l’ve had nothing but a positive experience throughout this time. Each session with John is not only challenging but fun too. He is very easy to talk with and that makes hard workouts a tad easier :). If you’re looking for a trainer who tailors workouts to suit your individual needs and makes you a healthier you, just reach out to John. I guarantee that you won’t regret it.
